Solana activated native on-chain governance on July 2, 2026. Stakers can now verify how their validators vote and override them if they disagree.

The first three proposals opened for stake-weighted voting on August 22. Here is what they change and why Staker Space votes YES on all three.

What's on the Ballot

SGP-0001: Ratify the Solana Constitution — YES

The constitution defines how proposals advance, how votes are counted, and what protections participants have. Clear rules make governance easier to understand and help independent validators participate on equal terms.

SGP-0002: Faster Disinflation — YES

Solana's inflation rate is designed to fall toward a 1.5% floor. SGP-0002 doubles the annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%, bringing that floor forward from around 2032 to roughly 2029. It is a simple parameter change that reduces issuance proportionally across validators rather than redesigning rewards.

SGP-0003: Resource-Based Fees — YES

Solana currently charges a flat base fee per signature. SGP-0003 instead links fees to the compute and data a transaction uses. Simple transactions should cost less, resource-heavy transactions should pay more, and more fees should be burned.

Why We Support Them

These proposals make Solana's economics clearer and better aligned with how the network works:

  • A constitution makes governance predictable and transparent.
  • Faster disinflation reduces reliance on newly issued SOL without changing the reward mechanism.
  • Resource-based fees make heavy users pay for the capacity they consume and reward efficient applications.

This does not make SOL deflationary, and supply changes alone do not determine price. The goal is simpler: predictable issuance, fees that reflect real usage, and transparent governance.

Our Vote

We vote YES on SGP-0001, SGP-0002, and SGP-0003. We are publishing our position so delegators know how we vote.

If you want to vote differently, visit the Solana Governance portal to override your validator's position.
